Transcend Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention, Mitigation and Management in Gymnastics Environments

Transcend Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention, Mitigation and Management is an Ofqual regulated vocationally related qualification that sits in sector subject area 1.3 Health and social care. It is uniquely designed to be completed in the context of a specialist pathway that represents the learner’s workplace environment.  

The Gymnastics Environment pathway is most relevant to gymnastics providers, coaches, and assistant coaches.  

Total Gymnastics is a dedicated gymnastics company set up by Olympic Bronze Medallist Beth Tweddle MBE to provide gymnastics classes around the UK in partnership with local schools. They led the way during the COVID pandemic by using this qualification to ensure their entire coaching workforce was competent in infection control practices.  

Other providers may also wish to use this as a high-value development opportunity for their workforce to ensure duty of care through infection control.  

The aim is to enable learners to develop knowledge and skills to control fatal infectious diseases in the context of their own role and scope of practice in the gymnastics facility where they operate. They will also develop the skills prevent, mitigate the spread, and manage breakouts of the most common infectious diseases found in gymnastics settings. 

Successful learners will receive a certificate that evidences the achievement of this qualification in the context of this pathway as shown:

The qualification was developed with health and safety education specialists RYNAT and INSPIRATUS as the technical collaborators. This pathway was validated through consultation with Sporting House [Beth Tweddle Gymnastics] as the leading education and activity provider in gymnastics.  

This qualification pathway is available to education providers that comply with the Transcend Centre Recognition and Supplementary Qualification Pathway Conditions.
