Transcend Level 5 Diploma in Maintaining Safety Standards in the Design, Installation, Inspection and Maintenance of Playgrounds and Activity Facilities

Transcend Playground Safety is a suite of Ofqual regulated vocational qualifications that sit in sector subject area 8.1 Sport, Leisure, and Recreation. 

This suite is uniquely designed to facilitate a professional development pathway for those who wish to fulfil the occupational role of an inspector in this context. It also offers those operating in playground and activity facility design, installation and maintenance roles or wider health and safety remits to enhance their scope of professional competence. 

The Transcend Level 5 Diploma in Maintaining Safety Standards in the Design, Installation, Inspection and Maintenance of Playgrounds and Activity Facilities is integral to this suite. The aim is to enable learners to develop learners’ skills required to maintain safety standards in the context of their occupational role in the design, installation, inspection, and maintenance of playgrounds and activity facilities. 

The qualification objective is to provide a benefit to learners by developing competence in this context. Learners will develop the knowledge and skills required to maintain playground and activity facility safety standards which include: 

• Safety laws, standards and social value of accessible playgrounds and activity facilities  
• Safety standards for the design, installation, inspection and maintenance of playgrounds and activity facilities  
• Safety standards and compliance monitoring of playground equipment categorised as swings  
• Safety standards and compliance monitoring of playground equipment categorised as slides   
• Safety standards and compliance monitoring of playground equipment categorised as rockers 
• Safety standards and compliance monitoring of playground equipment categorised as runways 
• Safety standards and compliance monitoring of playground equipment categorised as carousels 
• Safety standards and compliance monitoring of playground equipment categorised as spatial networks 
• Safety standards and compliance monitoring of activity facilities for skate  
• Safety standards and compliance monitoring of activity facilities parkour  
• Safety standards and compliance monitoring of activity facilities for outdoor adult fitness  
• Safety standards and compliance monitoring of activity facilities for free access multi sports 

Successful learners will be compliant with Health and Safety Law and BS-EN standards in the design, installation, inspection, and maintenance of playgrounds and activity facilities. Successful learners may use these skills to gain employment or to enhance their current scope of practice.
