Transcend Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention, Mitigation and Management in Swimming Pool Environments

Transcend Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention, Mitigation and Management is an Ofqual regulated vocationally related qualification that sits in sector subject area 1.3 Health and social care. It is uniquely designed to be completed in the context of a specialist pathway that represents the learner’s workplace environment.  

The Swimming Pool Environment pathway is most relevant to swimming pool operators, swimming teachers, lifeguards, coaches, and assistant coaches. It is also relevant to technicians and cleaners in this setting. 

Becky Adlington Training [swimming education provider] and Becky Adlington Swim Stars [swimming activity provider] were established by Olympic Medallist Becky Adlington. They led the way during the COVID pandemic by using this qualification to ensure their entire education and coaching workforce were competent in infection control practices.  

Other swimming pool operators may also use this as a high-value development opportunity for their workforce to ensure duty of care through infection control.  

The aim is to enable learners to develop knowledge and skills to control fatal infectious diseases in the context of their own role and scope of practice in the swimming facility where they operate. They will also develop the skills prevent, mitigate the spread, and manage breakouts of the most common infectious diseases found in swimming areas. 

Successful learners will receive a certificate that evidences the achievement of this qualification in the context this pathway as shown:

The qualification was developed with health and safety education specialists RYNAT and INSIRATUS as the technical collaborators. This pathway was validated through consultation with Sporting House [Becky Adlington Training and Swim Stars] as the leading education and activity provider in swimming. 

This qualification pathway is available to education providers that comply with the Transcend Centre Recognition and Supplementary Qualification Pathway Conditions.
