Transcend Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention, Mitigation and Management is an Ofqual regulated vocationally related qualification that sits in sector subject area 1.3 Health and social care. It is uniquely designed to be completed in the context of a specialist pathway that represents the learner’s workplace environment.

The Detention Environment pathway is relevant to police, prison, youth offending administrators, officers, health, and safety officers. It is also relevant to any detention system associates such as legal teams, probation officers, social workers, health workers, education workers, youth workers and referral order coordinators.  

Public service providers may wish to use this as a high-value development opportunity for their workforce to ensure duty of care through infection control.  

The aim is to enable learners to develop knowledge and skills to control fatal infectious diseases in the context of their own role and scope of practice in their detention centre or prison where they operate. They will also develop the skills prevent, mitigate the spread, and manage breakouts of the most common infectious diseases found in detention centres and prisons. 

Successful learners will receive a certificate that evidences the achievement of this qualification in the context this pathway as shown:

The qualification was developed with health and safety education specialists RYNAT and INSPIRATUS as the technical collaborators. INSPIRATUS was also pivotal to the validation of this pathway through consultation with their stakeholders as an experienced provider in detention centres and prisons.
